I have written many things over the years. Most of them are bare snippets of stories. Some few are as complete as I care to make them. Several are works in progress. This are will hold those up that I have deemed either finished or having enough to be offered.
Of course, everything I have written is copywritten to me, so do not use it without at least crediting me, Andara Bledin.
I apologize for the scrolling, but I have yet to teach myself how to anchor links, so I am not using them yet, but when I have more to display, I will take the time and effort to correct this.
This is something I wrote long ago in a fit of sillyness after reading a newsgroup all night.
The sun was just rising....Oh, no!
I waited too long...
It's coming; I'm trapped...
It's *gasp* The Wrong Side Of The Sunrise!™
Normal human [all right, that isn't entirely accurate] by day. Late at night, my vampiric tendencies take over. However, unlike other vampires, I gain sustenance not through the biting of other and partaking of their lifeblood, but from the light radiation coming from a computer monitor. I need only occasional sips of water to keep my heat down [having no internal fan].
But I waited too long and now it's coming. In darkness, I am as a vampire; in the light, I am [mostly] human. But in the space in between, the dawn itself, I'm am both and neither. As the sky turns pale blue and the clouds turn a delicate pink, the sunlight strips away the vampire in me and I am left with a need for sustenance beyond monitor light and water.
I must flee the windows, the kind with curtains as well as the ones with icons. I flee in search of substance! I must break my fast.
Barring that, I must burrow deeply within my bedding and shut my eyes to the evidence of the morning and surrender myself to blissful sleep.
This was written as the result of something that was happening with a pair of good friends I know online.
Thankfully, things worked out right in real life as well as fiction. She did not know of his presence and he watched her for several minutes before making his move.
"Oh! Who are you?" she cried as he came forward, crushing her to him. "What do you want?"
He breathes in the scent of her before answering. "I want the treasure only you can give."
His voice sends tremors of fear through her. "I don't understand. I have no treasure! Please, let me go."
He continues to hold her close. "You have treasure beyond worlds." He looks down at her and she looks away. "I want your love."
"What?" She looks back at him sharply. "But... I'm in love with another!"
His laugh echoes around the room and she shrinks within his grasp. "In love with another indeed! You're in love with quite a few others. I've never known anyone with the propensity to fall in love with people as you have!"
He smiles down at her and she quails again. "Why..." she begins hesitantly.
"I require the love of a woman. I have chosen you."
"But I can't just fall in love with you!"
"Why not?" He frowns at her in puzzlement. "I have been watching you for months and you seem to have no trouble falling in love with all manner of people! Most of whom you've never even met." He strokes her hair and smiles again. "Certainly you should have no troubles falling in love with me."
"But it doesn't work like that!"
"Then how does it work?"
She thinks for a moment before answering slowly. "I don't know."
"You don't know. You don't know?" He holds her at arm's length and looks at her, brows drawn down over his eyes. Then his hand moves quickly, capturing her chin and holding her still so he might peer deep into her eyes. She thinks that he can see into the depths of her soul with his piercing gaze.
After several minutes he releases her chin and then the rest of her and looks away.
She stands immobile and uncertain of her fate.
His voice is so soft she nearly misses his first words. "You truly don't know. I was certain that you who has fallen in love with half of creation would be the one to help me." He turns back to her, "It would seem that I have misjudged the situation. I will leave and trouble you no more."
As he turns toward the door she takes a half step and calls out, "Wait!" before stopping, unsure of herself.
"Yes?"
"I," she hesitates, "I want to help you."
He stands still but does not look at her. "If you cannot love me, then I must go find one who can."
"I never said I couldn't love you," she begins, surprised at herself, "I said that I couldn't just fall in love with you. I don't know you."
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why do you wish to help me?"
"I-" She falters.
"Yes? Continue."
"You said you needed help. I can't let you leave without at least making an attempt." She looks down at the floor, unsure of her own motivations and does not see him turn and approach.
She catches his movement as he stops before her and she looks up at him.
"Why can you not let me leave?" he asks softly.
She takes several moments before giving her answer. "Because I could not live with the idea of your sadness. As with my tendency to fall in love with those I barely know I also have the desire to help others. It almost reaches the level of a compulsion." She stops, embarrassed at this confession. "Please, allow me to help you," she says in a voice so low it is nearly inaudible.
His mind reels as he feels the beginnings of the curse's release and he bows low. "As you wish. I will stay my departure."
She smiles up at him as she wonders at how much things can change in such a short time.
This was written to be specifically what it is. A piece of gothic horror.
Monsters are as Monsters do.I walk the streets, knowing that eventually one of black heart will choose me as his or her victim. I walk each night, hoping that I will be undisturbed, but tonight, as on every other night, it is not to be.
He starts following me when I am not far from my destination. He catches up and drags me into an alley. My heart is heavy with what I fear will transpire.
"I warn you to release me" I tell him.
He narrows his eyes at me, trying to judge if I could be a threat. He misjudges, as do they all. "I'll release you, when I'm through with you, whore!"
I don't struggle and he appraises me again, noting that I don't appear frightened. He continues with his attack upon me, pulling my skirt up and with his knife cutting through my nylons and exposing what he thinks is his prize.
"I give you one last chance to cease this folly now." I offer him one final escape before I must act against him.
He sneers at me as he holds the knife to my chest as he opens his pants, releasing himself for his attack.
He sheaths his knife when I fail to make any motion to free myself from his grasp. Grabbing me roughly, he enters. I gasp in reaction to the pain.
He smiles again and I finally act.
His eyes widen as I bare my fangs before burying them deep within his throat. He moans in reaction to the ecstasy of the dark kiss.
I draw just enough of his blood to weaken him, then I release him.
He falls back against the other wall of the alley and slides to a sitting position, staring at me in a daze.
"You were warned, and now you have received punishment for your actions." I kneel before him.
"This is only the beginning. I have only taken enough of your blood to make you a bit weak. You will not die unless it is by your own foolishness. However, you will remember. You will remember and you will desire to re-enact this moment, but to no avail. There will be nothing that you can find that can compare to what I have done to you this night, and you will never have this again. I have marked you. To vampires, you are now anathema. They will not approach and you will waste your life trying to recapture this moment. This is what you have earned by your actions."
With that said, I rise and leave him weeping softly in the alley.
I have more, but it is not ready to be displayed.
